US ARMY ARENA ALL STARS CONTEST

Eligibility and Who Can Vote

1. To be eligible to be nominated in this contest, entrants must be California residents 15 years of age or older, and be a football player from among one of the Participating High Schools (as defined below).  Nominations are not open to the public.  To be eligible to vote in this contest, voter participants must be California residents 15 years of age or older, and reside in the KBAK/KNFX viewing area.

Participating High Schools:  Mira Monte, Ridgeview, South, Golden Valley, West, Liberty,  Centennial,  Frontier,  Bakersfield,  East, Garces,  Independence,  Tehachapi, Foothill, North, Highland, Bakersfield Christian,  Wasco,  Shafter,  Taft, Arvin, RFK Kennedy, Delano, McFarland, Stockdale

2.  Employees of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Television of Bakersfield, LLC, and any other company which owns, programs or provides other services to television broadcast station KBAK-TV or  KBFX (collectively, the “Stations”), Participating High Schools, The US Army, PKP Production, The Douglas Group, Inc. dba UPICKEM, their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, any and all local television broadcast and cable stations, local radio and other media companies, and the immediate family members of each are ineligible.  The term “immediate families” includes spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren.

 How It Works

1. There is no purchase necessary to participate as either a nominee or voter.  Only a nominee is eligible to win a prize.

2. Each week beginning Sunday, September 8, 2013 and ending November 29, 2013 (the “Contest Period”), KBAK/KBFX TV Sports Anchor Greg Kerr, Jon Tritsch,  along with input from the Participating Schools football coaches will select six (6) high school football player nominees from the Participating High Schools to be featured as US Army All Stars of the week.  The weekly football player nominees will be selected based on playing statistics and ability.  Each Sunday during the Contest Period, each of the six (6) weekly football player nominees will be determined and announced on each Sunday during the Hometown Sports program which airs on Channel 58 at 5:00  p.m. PT. 

3. Between each Sunday at 6:00 p.m. PT and 12:00 p.m. PT on each Friday (the (“Voting Period”) during the Contest Period, the general public will be encouraged to vote for their favorite “US Army All Star of the week”. 

4.To vote, voter participants will log onto www.bakersfieldnow.com and click on the Hometown Sports Page to complete the online registration form with your name, age, email and cast your vote.  Participants can vote one time per day. Weekly football player nominees are prohibited from obtaining votes by offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, vote farming, or any other activity that artificially inflates such nominee’s votes as determined by Station in its sole discretion.  The Station reserves the right to determine in its sole and absolute discretion whether the online votes are valid, and may disqualify any duplicate votes.  Multiple and/or irregular votes or multiple votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means or other source will be considered invalid. 

5. At 12:00 p.m. PT on each Friday during the Contest Period, two (2) All Star Players with the highest number of valid votes, as determined by the Stations, will be determined the weekly winners and will be eligible to participate in the US Army Arena Bowl Draft.   

The Prize(s)

1.  Two (2) weekly winners will be selected.  Each weekly winner will be eligible to participate in the US Army Arena Bowl Draft  and receive a US Army prize pack containing a US Army T-Shirt, Pen, Pencil and Window Sticker, valued at $12.   Weekly winners are not guaranteed to be drafted for the US Army Arena Bowl.

2.  Winner(s) will be notified by phone.  Before claiming prizes, winners must provide their correct name, address and telephone number to Station at the time of notification.  Winner(s) must sign and return a release and affidavit of eligibility, which must be received within seven (7) days of notification at the time winner(s) claim his/her prize in person at the Station.  If a winner is a minor, then the winner’s parents or guardian must sign a release and affidavit of eligibility before the winner receives his or her prize.  Winner(s) must show picture identification to claim prizes.  Station reserves the right to examine additional identification and may choose to accept or deny awarding the prize based on the identification presented.

3.  If a winner cannot be notified within seven (7) days, or does not timely sign and return the release and affidavit of eligibility, then the prize will be forfeited, and the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner with the next highest number of valid votes, as determined by the Station in its sole and absolute discretion. 

4.  There will be no substitutions or cash alternatives for prizes except at the sole discretion of Station.  The Station has the right to substitute a prize of similar value.  No transfer or assignment of prizes is allowed.

5.  Each winner is responsible for paying all local, county, state and federal taxes on prizes based on the estimated retail value of the prizes as set forth in these rules.   Winner must sign a W-9 form.   

6.  Only one prize will be awarded per winner. 

7.  Sinclair Television of Bakersfield, LLC, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. are not liable if the provider of any part of the prize fails to satisfy its obligations to furnish its portion of the prize

8.  Sinclair Television of Bakersfield, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. are not responsible for any liabilities arising directly or indirectly from the award or use of the prize.

9.  In claiming your prize, you acknowledge that Sinclair Television of Bakersfield, LLC, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. have the right to publicize your name, character, likeness, photograph, voice and the fact that you are the winner for promotional purposes without financial remuneration.

Odds of Winning/Miscellaneous

1.  Odds of winning depend on the number of votes received.

2.  Complete contest rules are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours at KBAK/KBFX TV, 1901 Westwind Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93301 and on the Station’s website at BakersfieldNow.com.

3.  For a list of prize winners, send a separate, self-addressed, stamped envelope to KBAK/KBFX TV, 1901 Westwind Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93301 by November 29, 2013.  Due to the nature of this contest, the winner’s last names will not be provided.

4.  This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.  Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Television of Bakersfield, LLC, US Army, PKP Productions, and The Douglas Group, Inc., dba UPICKEM, accept no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the acceptance, possession or use of any prize awarded hereunder.

5.  Station cannot be held liable for any lost or stolen entries, prizes or contest information.  Station is not responsible for any computer or electronic malfunction, server unavailability, technological glitch, or human error relating to this contest and/or the use of short-code.

6.  Station reserves the right to make rules and contest changes and change the aforementioned contest dates.
